Dietes robinsoniana, also known as the Lord Howe wedding lily, is a unique plant found exclusively on Lord Howe Island. It can be found growing on cliff faces, forest margins, and mountaintops, as well as behind beaches. This plant is a biogeographic anomaly, as its closest relatives are found in Africa. It is the largest species in its genus and is sensitive to cold temperatures. While it is not a common plant, it can be locally abundant in certain areas. The plant grows up to 1.5 meters tall and has sword-shaped or linear leaves. Its white flowers with yellow accents only last for one day and bloom from September to December. The plant produces flat triangular seeds in a round capsule, with the seeds being around 10mm in length.
