Haworthiopsis nigra, formerly known as Haworthia nigra, is a succulent plant species native to the Western and Eastern Cape Provinces in South Africa. It has dark green to brownish black leaves with dark tubercles, and typically grows in three tiers. This species was previously classified under Haworthia subgenus Hexangulares, but has since been moved to Haworthiopsis due to phylogenetic studies. It can be found in well-drained sandy soil under bushes or rocks in its range, which extends across the southern part of South Africa. Varieties of this species can be found in different regions within its range, such as the "diversifolia" variety in the Western Cape Province and the "nigra" variety in the Eastern Cape.
