Aloiampelos ciliaris, formerly Aloe ciliaris, is a rapidly growing succulent plant from South Africa. It is easily identifiable by the tiny white "eyelashes" that circle the stem, at the base of the leaf. It has soft, white, hair-like teeth that extend all the way around the stem, and its leaves are strongly recurved. It produces long, thin, untidy stems that shoot upwards and produce large bright orange-red flowers from November to April. It is naturally widespread in the coastal and thicket vegetation of the Eastern Cape, and has been introduced to other parts of South Africa and Kenya. It is related to other species in the genus, such as Aloiampelos tenuior, Aloiampelos gracilis, Aloiampelos commixta, Aloiampelos juddii and Aloiampelos striatula.
