Kumara plicatilis, also known as the fan-aloe, is a succulent plant native to the Fynbos ecoregion in the Western Cape of South Africa. It is characterized by its unique fan-like arrangement of leaves and can grow as a shrub or small tree. It is one of two species in the Kumara genus. The plant has grey-green leaves with tiny teeth along the margins and produces bright pink flowers in late winter. It is found in a small area in the Western Cape and is the only tree aloe in the fynbos biome. The fan-aloe is threatened by illegal collection for horticulture trade, but is not considered an endangered species. It is popular as an ornamental plant and can be propagated from cuttings. It has also been hybridized with Gonialoe variegata, resulting in the intergeneric hybrid Gonimara.
