Aloe broomii, commonly known as the mountain aloe or snake aloe, is a species of flowering plant in the genus Aloe found in southern Africa. It is widespread in South Africa and Lesotho, growing on rocky slopes in hilly and mountainous areas at an altitude of between 1000 and 2000 metres above sea level. It is a robust plant with a short stem, growing up to 1.5 metres high, including the inflorescence. It has fleshy succulent leaves edged with small, dark thorns, and an odd inflorescence which gives it a sinuous, snake-like appearance. This plant is not threatened by human activity in its range, and is held to have medicinal properties. It is a water-wise plant that may be used in xeriscaping, and is propagated from seed.
