Lachenalia unifolia, also known as the banded viooltjie, is a bulbous plant found in the Cape Floristic Region of South Africa. It grows up to 35 cm tall and has one linear leaf with green and maroon stripes. Its flowers, which bloom between August and October, are pale blue, pink, or pale yellow with white tips and are borne in a raceme. The plant is endemic to the Northern and Western Cape of South Africa and is commonly found on sandy flats and clay slopes. While it is declining due to habitat loss and alien vegetation, it is currently considered of least concern by the South African National Biodiversity Institute. Lachenalia unifolia is valued for its ornamental use and its ellipsoid capsule contains glossy black spherical seeds.
