Dracaena konaensis, also known as Pleomele hawaiiensis or the Hawaiʻi hala pepe, is a rare flowering plant found only on the island of Hawaiʻi in the state of Hawaii. It can be found in dry forests on old lava flows at elevations of 300-800 meters on the leeward side of the island. This plant is often found in association with other native plants such as ʻōhiʻa lehua, lama, māmane, and alaheʻe. Unfortunately, there are only 300 to 400 individuals of this species remaining, making it an endangered species due to habitat loss and modification. The flowers of this plant were traditionally used in leis and the wood was used for carvings.
