Pancratium illyricum is a species of bulbous plant native to Corsica, Sardinia and the Capraia Islands of Tuscany. It grows on rocky slopes and sparse woodland areas, from sea level to more than 1300 m above sea level. It has glaucous leaves, 30-60 cm long, 1½-½ cm wide, and an umbel of 12 white, fragrant flowers with a short corona. It blooms in April to June and goes dormant after flowering. It is the hardiest Pancratium, able to survive in USDA zone 8 and probably 7 in sheltered positions with a southern aspect. It is easy to grow and propagate by seeds or division. Its Italian name is "giglio stella" which translates to star lily.
