Ismene amancaes, also known as amancae or amancay, is a herbaceous plant found in the coastal hills of Peru. It has spherical bulbs and bright green strap-shaped leaves. The flowers, which are yellow and borne on a long stem, have a greenish yellow tube and linear to narrowly lanceolate tepals with green tips. The plant is endemic to Peru and can be found in the lomas ecosystem near Lima. It contains alkaloid substances such as galantamine and narcissidine. Remains of I. amancaes have been found in archaeological sites near Lima. The flowering of this plant was celebrated in a festival called "Festival de Amancaise" until the 1800s, where people from all classes of society gathered to enjoy music and dance and adorn themselves with the flowers. However, the plant is now considered endangered by the IUCN.
