is a perennial herbaceous bulbous plant from Peru to Bolivia. It was first collected in 1866 and has been used in breeding programs. The flowers have a unique appearance, with vermillion spots on a yellowish background resembling a leopard skin. The flower tube is short or absent, and the segments are broad, recurved, and spreading. It was originally classified as Amaryllis, but was later moved to the genus Hippeastrum.
