Thrinax radiata, also known as the Florida thatch palm, is a slow-growing palm tree native to many Caribbean islands, Mexico, Central America, and southern Florida. It has large, segmented leaves and can reach a height of 20 feet. The tree produces white flowers and fruits year-round and is an important food source for various animals. It is commonly used in landscaping and can also be grown in containers. Its fronds are used for thatched roofing and other purposes, and its fruit is edible. While it is commonly cultivated, its wild populations in Florida are rare and efforts are being made to protect it in Mexico.
