Saribus rotundifolius, also known as the footstool palm, is a fan palm commonly found in Southeast Asia. It is a member of the Saribus genus and has various names in different languages. It was first described by Jean-Baptiste Lamarck in 1786 and later moved to the Saribus genus by Carl Ludwig Blume. In 2011, after DNA research, it was officially reclassified from the Livistona genus to Saribus. The palm has a single trunk and can grow up to 45 meters tall. Its leaves are palmately-lobed and its flowers are borne on an inflorescence. The fruit is a fleshy drupe and is used for thatching and wrapping food. The palm is commonly used for landscaping and is also the unofficial national leaf of the Philippines. It is abundant in its native distribution, but has also been introduced to other countries. The plant is not considered endangered and is classified as 'least concern'.
