Coccothrinax spissa, also known as the guano or swollen silver thatch palm, is a type of fan palm that is native to the island of Hispaniola. It typically grows to be 3 to 8 meters tall with a diameter of 20 to 30 centimeters, and its stems are often swollen. The fruit of this palm is dark purple and about 1.1 to 1.2 centimeters in diameter. It can be found in open areas in dry habitats or on the edges of woodlands at low elevations below 400 meters above sea level.
