Attalea crassispatha is a critically endangered palm species that is endemic to southwest Haiti. It is considered one of the rarest palms in the Americas due to its small population size and extreme isolation from other members of the genus. The palm has a single stem that can grow up to 20 meters tall and bears 15 to 19 pinnately compound leaves. Its inflorescences are either predominantly male or a mixture of male and female flowers. The species is found in three anthropogenic habitats in Haiti and has been used for various purposes such as food, oil, and building materials. Efforts are being made to conserve the species through planting seedlings in Haiti and other countries.
