Allagoptera caudescens, also known as buri palm, is a flowering plant endemic to Brazil. It was previously classified as Polyandrococos caudescens and is the only species in the genus Polyandrococos. The plant has rough, solitary trunks covered in old leaf bases and its leaves have a short petiole with armed margins. The inflorescence is a pendulous, solitary spike with staminate flowers on the top and triads on the bottom. The staminate flowers have numerous stamens and the pistillate flowers have a triovulate gynoecium. The fruit is egg-shaped with three pores and contains a single seed. This plant is found in east-central Brazil in gallery forests and open plains up to the Atlantic coastal forests.
