Hydrocotyle bonariensis, also known as the largeleaf pennywort, is a perennial plant that was previously classified in the Apiaceae family but is now part of the Araliaceae family and the Hydrocotyle genus. It has white to creamy-yellow flowers on stalks up to 30 centimetres tall and reproduces through creeping stems and rhizomes. This plant is found in sandy areas with extreme conditions, such as dry lands that are occasionally flooded. It is often found alongside other species like Ipomoea pes-caprae, Senecio crassiflorus, Juncus acutus, Imperata brasiliensis, and Bacopa monnieri. H. bonariensis is native to various regions in Africa, the United States, and South America, and has been found in countries like Cameroon, Costa Rica, and Argentina. It is also commonly found in Colombia, where it has been observed in several areas as part of a rapid ecological evaluation project.
