Heptapleurum ellipticum, also known as the climbing umbrella tree, is a plant in the Araliaceae family that is native to various regions including the Indian subcontinent, Indochina, Malesia, Papuasia, and Australia. It can grow up to 10 meters tall and has compound leaves with 4-7 leaflets. The plant produces small, round fruits and has been used in traditional medicine for various purposes. It is also popular as an ornamental plant in gardens and as a houseplant. The plant was first described in 1826 and has undergone taxonomic changes, most recently being transferred back to the genus Heptapleurum in 2020. It is found in rainforests and gallery forests in its natural habitat.
