Lomatium grayi, also known as Gray's biscuitroot, is a perennial herb found in Western Canada and the Western United States. It grows in dry rocky areas and has a lifespan of 5-7 years. The plant has glabrous stems, dark-green leaves, and yellow flowers that bloom from March to July. It has a strong odor resembling parsley. A 2018 study has proposed splitting L. grayi into four species based on morphometric analysis. The plant was used as a food source by the Northern Paiute people, who ate the new tender stems raw and used the roots as a winter starvation food.
