Eryngium ebracteatum, also known as the burnet-flowered sea holly, is a herbaceous perennial found in South America. It is occasionally grown as an ornamental plant due to its attractive appearance. The species was described by French naturalist Jean-Baptiste Lamark in 1797 and belongs to the subgenus Monocotyloidea. It has grey-green leaves and cone-shaped, deep-red inflorescences. E. ebracteatum is found in a variety of habitats and is distributed across South and Central America. Its conservation status has not been evaluated, but its habitat is at risk due to invasive species. In cultivation, it requires full sun and moderately fertile soil, but is prone to root and crown rot in cold and waterlogged conditions. The most commonly cultivated variety is 'poterioides'.
