Daucus edulis, also known as Cenoura-da-rocha in Portuguese, is a critically endangered flowering plant in the celery family. It is only found in Madeira, an island in the Atlantic Ocean. This long-lived plant can grow up to 1 meter in height and has shiny, triangular leaves with pubescent petioles. Its inflorescences are scattered and its fruits are oblong and pubescent when ripe. Previously known as Monizia edulis, this species is now facing a population decline with only around 50 individuals remaining in a small area. It grows in rocky cliffs and terraces up to 1,500 meters in Madeira and is threatened by various factors such as the introduction of non-native species, human collection, and natural disasters like fires and landslides.
