Chaerophyllum procumbens, also known as spreading chervil or wild chervil, is a small annual plant native to the eastern United States and Canada. It grows up to 50 centimeters tall and has shiny stems with fine hairs. The leaves are triangular and compound, with small white flowers blooming in spring. This plant is widely distributed in the eastern US, but its presence may be spotty. It is listed as an endangered species in New York and grows in habitats such as floodplain forests and alluvial clearings in Virginia. However, its survival is dependent on appropriate habitat and it may be threatened by development, land use changes, and competition from invasive species.
