Angelica capitellata, also known as Sphenosciadium capitellatum, is a flowering plant in the Apiaceae family. It is the only species in the monotypic genus Sphenosciadium. This stout perennial herb has doubly pinnate leaves and can grow up to 1 meter tall. It is commonly known as woollyhead parsnip, ranger's buttons, button parsley, and swamp white heads. The plant produces a whitish compound umbel with many branches and tiny white or purple-tinged flowers. It is native to western North America and can be found in moist habitats such as creeksides and meadows. Ranger's buttons are often mistaken for other similar plants, but can be distinguished by their unique leaf shape and tightly packed flower clusters. This plant is included in the list of toxic plants in North America.
