Phyllospadix iwatensis is a plant species that can be found along the seacoasts of Japan, Korea, China, and the Russian Far East. It was first discovered in 1929 on the Miyako Peninsula in Japan and is commonly found in the intertidal zone along the shore. This perennial herb spreads through rhizomes and has long, thin leaves that can reach up to 150 cm in length but are usually less than 5 mm wide.
