Sagittaria sanfordii is an uncommon species of flowering plant in the water plantain family, found in California. It is an aquatic perennial herb up to 130 cm tall, with leaves that may grow up to 25 centimeters long. The plant is monoecious, with male and female flowers on the same plant. Male flowers have rings of stamens at the centers, while female flowers have spherical clusters of pistils which develop into a head of tiny fruits. It is endemic to California, where it is known from a few scattered occurrences on the North Coast and in the Central Valley, though many occurrences in the Central Valley and southern California have been lost due to human activity.
