Sagittaria lancifolia, also known as the bulltongue arrowhead, is a perennial plant found in the southeastern United States, as well as Mexico, Central America, and parts of South America. It is easily recognized by its large, lance-shaped leaves and showy white flowers. The plant prefers to grow in fresh or brackish water and is commonly found in wetland areas. It reproduces both asexually and sexually, with its seeds dispersed through animals and water. The plant is also sensitive to crude oil pollution, but studies have shown that it can recover quickly even after being burned, making it a viable option for restoring polluted marshes.
