Helanthium tenellum, also known as the pygmy chain sword, is a plant species in the Alismataceae family. It is found in various regions including the eastern United States, southern Mexico, West Indies, Central America, and South America. The plant has narrow elliptical or lanceolate leaves with a pointed tip and a thin, erect stem. It produces small inflorescences and has sepals that enlarge during ripening. This plant is endangered in some states in the United States and is commonly kept in aquariums for its aesthetic appeal. It is easy to care for and can adapt to different conditions.
