Pachypodium rosulatum, also known as elephant's foot plant, is a perennial shrub belonging to the Apocynaceae family. It has a bottle-shaped trunk and thorny cylindrical arms, growing up to 1.5 meters tall. The dark green leaves form a rosette on top of the branches and fall during the dry season. The plant produces sulphur-yellow flowers in an inflorescence about 30 centimeters high from February to May. Its fruits are 6 to 20 inches long and contain elongated seeds. This plant is native to Madagascar and can be found in sunny and stony areas, thanks to its succulent caudex and underground tuberous that allow it to withstand long periods of drought.
